Offered today is a brass mail bag tag from the Great Northern Ry. The mail bag tag is approx. 3 1/4" long and 2 1/4" wide. There is a slot at one end for the leather strap. Part of the leather strap is still attached to the tag. The words on the tag read, "RETURN PROMPTLY TO MAIL ROOM GREAT NORTHERN RY. GENERAL OFFICE ST. PAUL, MINN". There are no manufacturer's markings on the tag. The tag is in good used condition, letters are strong, plenty of scratches, a few small dents, wear to the brass, and most of the strap is missing.
