Description

Historically important, original Spanish state manuscript and decree dated June 24th 1818. This large folio document features a deeply detailed pre printed noble title block at the top, a striking engraved military coat of arms at the bottom and a highly important handwritten administrative ruling regarding the political fallout of the Napoleonic Wars in Spain. Following the defeat of Napoleons forces and the restoration of King Ferdinand VII to the Spanish throne, thousands of spaniards who had cooperated with the French occupation forces fled into exile in France. This document represents the strict border and political containment policies enacted by the Spainish Crown to keep these exiles from returning. The handwritten text certifies that according to the King royal decrees, entry into the Kingdom of Spain is strictly prohibited to any Spanish refugees currently in France who held public offices, military employment or authority during the French military occupation. The decree specifically evaluates the case of an exile named Don Manuel Fernandez Puerto, ruling on his status under these active royal restrictions. Signed at the conclusion of the text block by El Duque de Fernan Nunez, a premier Spanish diplomat who served as Spains ambassador during these delicate post Napoleonic European treaties. Features an incredible, large scale engraved heraldic crest at the bottom, flanked by traditional standing figures, royal crowns, armor, drums, trumpets and artillery cannons. Marked 'gratis' at the bottom margin. A marvelous, display ready artifact for serious collectors specialising in the Napoleonic Wars, Spanish Peninsular War history, early 19th century royal decrees or heraldic engravings, 99p start:-
