🎁 Originally, this was a gift certificate issued by Marui, the largest department store in Hokkaido, which was established shortly after the beginning of the Meiji era.

🎁 However, following a severe shortage of coins in the region during the Meiji era, these certificates came to be used as substitute currency.

🎁 At the time, it is said that 1 yen was enough to purchase a high-quality suit.
