If your decorating philosophy is more-is-more, this one absolutely delivers.

Beautiful large vintage tapestry-woven table cover / decorative furniture throw, measuring approximately 56” x 71” and filled with wonderfully saturated color and pattern.

The design features a dramatic central floral medallion surrounded by scrolling flowers, foliage and richly patterned borders in shades of burgundy, teal, blue, olive green, gold, cream and pink. It has that fabulous collected-over-time look where maximalist, bohemian, country cottage and eclectic décor all meet.

The textile is substantial and fairly heavy with a tapestry/jacquard-style woven construction. There is no backing, and the edges are simply turned and sewn. There are no labels present, so the maker and exact fiber content are unknown. It appears to be some type of cotton or cotton-blend textile, but I cannot confirm the material.

I am also unable to confirm its originally intended purpose. Based on its construction, I believe it was most likely made as a decorative table cover or furniture throw rather than a traditional floor rug. At 56” x 71”, however, there are plenty of possibilities — drape it over a dining or accent table, chest, sofa or bed, or use it as a large decorative wall textile.

For size reference, it is photographed displayed over a 44” round table.

Based on the colors, pattern and construction, I believe this piece likely dates to approximately the 1970s–1980s, with a particularly strong 1970s decorative influence.

Overall it remains in very nice vintage condition. There is one small hiccup/imperfection near a corner, which does little to detract from such a large and heavily patterned textile. Please review the photographs carefully for this area and overall condition.

Estate fresh and has not been laundered by me. It has been stored for multiple years and may require cleaning or freshening according to the new owner’s preference. Pictures are considered part of the condition and description.
