This original, Official Imprint Confederate Cover measures approx. 5 1/2" by 3 1/4" and the Envelope was originally printed as an Official Imprint of the Confederate States of America Army. The imprint at the upper right hand corner reads “Ordnance Depot / Savannah, Georgia”. There is a partial, handstamp Savannah, George postmark at the upper left hand corner of the Cover but, unfortunately, the stamp has been clipped as can be seen in the scans below.

    The Envelope is addressed to “Mrs. J. L. Boatwright” in care of Dr. Boatwright at Columbia, South Carolina. This CAS Army Official Imprint Cover was sent through the Confederate Postal System but, as stated above, the stamp was removed at some point. The Cover was opened at the flap resulting in some damage to the flap.

    This CSA Postally used Cover came to us with a VERY Rare, CSA Illustrated Cover titled “Savannah” and measuring 5 ½” by 3 1/8”. The Envelope features an all over, bird’s-eye-view of the City of Savannah with the Confederate Soldier Monument at the center of the image. Text below the view reads “Savannah” and “We have a Government, and we shall enforce its laws by the point of the bayonet until it is acknowledged in every foot of its territory”.

    The very rare and original, 1860’s Confederate States of America, Official Imprint, Savannah, Georgia Ordnance Depot Cover is in very good condition. The front panel of the Cover has some uniform age toning and some soiling as can be seen in the scans below. As stated above, the stamp has been removed resulting in the upper left hand corner of the Cover exhibiting loss. There is a partial handstamp postmark at the upper left hand corner. As stated above the Cover was opened at the flap resulting in some damage to the flap.     The Illustrated, CSA Patriot Cover included here is unused and in excellent condition – clean and crisp and exceptionally well preserved.
