Georgian Silver Milk or Cream Jug

London, 1799

A good example of an 18th Century Sterling Silver milk or cream jug. It is an elegant design with a beautifully curved pouring spout and delicate engraved bands of decoration. There is a cartouche on the front engraved with the initial 'C'. The jug is good quality and the interior of the jug is brightly gilded.

It is clearly hallmarked for London, 1799 although the maker's mark has worn. It weighs approximately 103g.

It is in good condition for its age. There are some faint surface marks, small dinks and signs of age and use but nothing detrimental or untoward and it displays well. It has been gently cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
