All blanks for sale are a byproduct of my established woodturning business. I buy whole trees that I use for my turning work. The best offcuts are saved and air dried for years before being moved to heated rooms for final drying. The long drying process guarantees stable predictable dry all the way through blanks. All blanks are cut to get the best out of a particular piece of wood, they are not cut to make symmetrical perfect looking discs. Occasionally wood will have historic worm holes, these are from when the tree was standing dead and have been eliminated during the drying process. Voids, soft areas and bark inclusions can be filled or worked around with a little bit of imagination. Often the most interesting wood is around these areas. All sizes are approximate. I do my best to be accurate. I copy and paste from previous listing, very occasionally there are small discrepancies. Please let me know if I have made a mistake or you are not happy with dimensions or blank. I will sort it out.
Selling prices are worked out by the quality and rarity of the burr wood combined with the size and weight of blank. You pay for what you get. Top quality burr elm is becoming very hard to come by now as it is almost all gone.
