A vintage traditional Greek Orthodox wedding crown case, known as a stefanothiki, with a pair of white wedding crowns, known as stefano. These were used in 1977 and have been in the case since.

The shadow box frame is specially made to hold and display stefana (wedding crowns). It features a vintage, hand-carved octagon-shaped wooden frame painted in distressed white with ornate gold-brushed trim accents.

The crowns are tied together by a long silk ribbon, symbolizing the eternal union and shared crown of life of the newly married couple. They are delicate white pearl-beaded wedding tiaras/crowns and ribbons arranged against a soft lace doily backing behind the protective round glass.

The case houses an icon of the Virgin Mary holding the Infant Jesus (Theotokos), a common protective and blessing presence inside Greek family homes.

Because the crowns are a sacred element blessed during the Holy Sacrament of Matrimony, families traditionally preserve them behind glass and hang the case prominently over the couple's bed or in their home icon corner (ikonostasi).
