・This bill features a watermark of the kanji character 湊, which means "port." It is said that this watermark was inspired by the fact that Chita District was home to one of the largest ports in the Kansai region during the Edo period.

Agriculture:

　Rice cultivation thrived on the Chita Peninsula, and “Chita rice” was highly regarded for its quality. In addition, wheat, soybeans, and various vegetables were also grown.

Fishing:

　Facing both Ise Bay and Mikawa Bay, the area prospered in fishing. Sea bream, horse mackerel, and seaweed were especially abundant.

Brewing:

　Blessed with high-quality rice and water, sake brewing flourished on the peninsula. “Chita sake” was well known throughout Japan, and records show it was even presented to the shogunate. Brewing of miso and soy sauce was also common.

Ceramics:

　Tokoname ware, a type of pottery produced on the Chita Peninsula since ancient times, gained nationwide recognition during the Edo period. Everyday items such as teapots and jars were widely produced.

Other aspects:

　As the area belonged to the Owari Domain, annual taxes were collected, and the domain also promoted local industries.

Nationally recognized products of the Chita Peninsula

Chita sake: A fine sake known since the Edo period, valued nationwide for its quality.

Chita cotton: A durable and soft-textured cotton that was shipped to Edo and the Kansai region.

Tokoname ware: Everyday pottery such as teapots and jars were distributed nationwide during the Edo period, and its craftsmanship continues today.
