French watchmaker and watch manufacturer
May 22, 1749, Georges "Frédéric" Louis Japy was born in Beaucourt in the French Jura. His father was Jacques "LeJeune" Japy (1724 -- November 14, 1797), iron merchant and mayor of Beaucourt.
The company founder died on 4 January 1812 in Badevel. His sons Frédéric Guillaume (Fritz) Japy, Louis Frédéric Japy, and Jean Pierre Japy practiced the operation.
