A folding Atlantic/Esso service-station road map of Victoria, Seventeenth Edition, covering Melbourne Environs, Melbourne and Suburbs, Gippsland, and Geelong and Western Districts. Charming period cover art of Australian native animals (kangaroo, koala, platypus, cockatoo, kookaburras, frill-necked lizard) surrounds the Atlantic and Esso logos, with period advertising for Atlantic/Esso petroleum products, mileage tables, and detailed period road maps throughout. A nice piece of mid-century Australian motoring and petroliana ephemera.

Condition:
A well-used but complete example of this folding map. The pictorial covers show heavy edge wear with fraying and small chips along the top and fore-edge, and the spine fold has separated slightly with old cellotape repairs (browned with age) reinforcing a couple of the map's fold joints internally. General toning and light foxing throughout, with a vertical crease/tear along one of the interior folds. All panels and mileage tables remain present, legible, and intact. Sold as a genuine, honestly-worn survivor of the period rather than a pristine example.
