Description
Fantastic Persian studio glass bowl from the 1960s/70s. A hand blown piece as shown by the ground pontil at base, and lack of casting seams. The glass is transparent, but not clear; it has a stormy grey-ish sheen and deep purple (almost eggplant) band at the top lip which fades into body. It features consistent bubble-like inclusions within the glass, which give it the appearance of speckling or even glittering in certain lights. The outside of the bowl features 2 dark purple abstract, swirling appliques to each side. This bowl has great quality in style and craftsmanship. It is unsigned. Very solid at 1.19kg.
Condition
Very good vintage condition. No major chips, cracks, breaks or repairs. This bowl has been well loved in its lifetime, it has light scratches to the interior and exterior surface. It has one small chip to inside, near lip (photos included). Consistent with being hand-blown, there are bubble-like inclusions within the thick glass of body, and a couple that have textured the surface. There are scratches and wear to base as expected. Any wear and scratches are commensurate with age and use.
Please look at the photos carefully as they form part of our description.
