Argus C3 35mm Rangefinder Camera with 50mm Cintar Lens & Flash Unit. Made in USA – Early 1940s Production – Shutter Cocks & Fires. This listing is for a vintage Argus C3 35mm rangefinder camera paired with its Argus flash unit. The Argus C3, introduced in 1939, became one of the most iconic American cameras of the mid‑20th century. Based on its design features, this example appears to be an early‑production model from the early 1940s. Shutter Operation (Working); The shutter cocks and fires properly. The front shutter‑cocking lever moves upward toward the indicator knob and produces a clear click when set. Pressing the shutter button produces a second audible click, and the shutter blades move as expected. The camera responds reliably at all tested shutter speeds. With the shutter now cocking and firing, it shows promising mechanical life for its age. The video demonstrates the shutter operating at speeds 300, 100, 50, 25, and 10. At the 10 speeds, the shutter takes longer to close due to the slow timing, and the video time ran out before the full cycle could be shown. I took a separate video with speed set to 10 and rangefinder set to 3, it took almost 1 minute and 40 seconds for it to finish and close. Please look carefully at all photos; they document the leatherette lifting, the missing section, and the overall condition from various angles. Sold as‑is due to its vintage condition. Lens & Focus; 50mm Argus Cintar lens moves in and out using the rangefinder gears, Movement is stiff from age, Lens is dusty and may have scratches. Body Condition; Leatherette lifting in multiple areas, one section missing on the upper right front corner, Typical cosmetic wear for an early‑1940s camera. Flash Unit; Untested (requires two C‑size batteries and flash bulbs, Reflector dome intact, Battery compartment clean. Measurements & Weight; Camera: 5¼" L × 3¼" H × 2¾" D, approx. 1 lb. 11 oz. Flash Unit: 7¾" length, Reflector dome: 5¼" diameter, approx. 7 oz (without batteries). This camera is ideal for display, restoration, or collection. With the shutter now cocking and firing at multiple speeds, it shows strong mechanical potential for its age.
