Description Impressive antique cast bronze or brass figure/statue. The water-carrying woman is dressed in traditional draped skirt with a tunic-like top, both featuring detailed pattern and decoration. She has a band tied to each forearm, a headpiece, and is carrying a jug in each hand, one rested on a shoulder. We are unsure of the exact origin of this piece, or what culture/practice it might represent. Possibly Roman or Grecian in style. Definitely an antique, has great patina and age about it. No makers marks. She would have sat on a stand but has been separated at some stage. This figure has great presence, weighing an impressive 2.4kg.
Condition
Excellent antique condition. Missing stand, but can still stand freely and straight. She does have a hole at top of head, unsure for what purpose. There is something small rattling around within, so that might be the piece missing from head. Wear to gilt over bronze as expected, commensurate with age. Fantastic patina, which indicates an old age.
