FRESH FROM AN OLD COLLECTION.
A FANTASTIC EARLY 17TH CENTURY DUTCH SQUARE BASE BRASS CANDLESTICK IN THE BEST OLD GRUNGY POLISHED COLOR AND SURFACE.
DUTCH, CIRCA 1640-1660 IN WONDERFUL ORIGINAL CONDITION IN OLD POLISHED SURFACE.
GREAT EARLY FORM WITH A STEPPED SQUARE BASE AND A BOLDLY TURNED STEM WITH AN EARLY SHAPED CANDLE CUP.
Made in the typical 16-17th Century manner, the underneath color is absolutely untouched with the cast marks and hand finishing turning marks still present.
The color is deep and yellow. The condition is near perfect with just the minor dings and surface abrasions you would expect from over 400 years of use.
It is still tight.
For reference see, "Antique Brass Candlesticks 1450-1750", by John Grove, and"The Brass Book" by H. Schiffer.
Both Grove and Schiffer date these sticks to the early 17th century.
5 1/2" tall and the base 4" across.
