Edo Samurai Nanban Style Eri Mawashi Armor Neck Collar Antique Japan
Description
This is a full-size Nanban-style Eri Mawashi, an antique neck and shoulder collar component used with Japanese samurai armor during the Edo period.
An Eri Mawashi was worn around the neck and shoulder area beneath or together with the main body armor. It helped protect and cushion the neck area while filling the space between the cuirass and the shoulders.
This example features a distinctive Nanban-inspired style, reflecting the influence of European armor and foreign design on certain forms of Japanese samurai equipment.
Made in an adult wearable size, it is an interesting historical piece for collectors of authentic Japanese armor, samurai antiques, Edo-period artifacts, Nanban art, and Japanese militaria.
It may also be suitable for completing or restoring a Japanese armor display. Please carefully examine all photos for the design, age, condition, and included items
