Rolex Day-Date — Ref. 18238 — 18ct Yellow Gold — Blue Dial — 18ct President Bracele - Circa 1990
The Day-Date in yellow gold with a blue dial is one of those combinations that needs no justification. It’s been right since the beginning and it still is.
This example is reference 18238, cased in 18ct yellow gold with the fluted bezel, and fitted with Cal. 3155 — Rolex’s quickset day-date movement and one of the most reliable automatic calibres they’ve produced. Serial E435XXX dates production to around 1990–91.
The dial is a deep matte powder blue — quiet and slightly chalky in character rather than glassy, which gives it a softer, more considered presence than the lacquer alternatives. Gold baton indices and Roman numerals on the chapter ring. No fading, no damage. The case is unpolished and retains its original surfaces throughout, which at this age is exactly what you want to see.
Presented on an original 18k Rolex President bracelet in perfect condition. Original Rolex box included with chronometer hang tag. No papers.
A clean, honest example of one of Rolex’s most enduring references, in the right metal, with the right dial, and the case to match.
