Antique Leather Cased Sewing Set w/ Steel Tools & Sterling Silver Thimble

This charming set of needlework tools comes in a textured leather case with gold embossed borders. It has a leather handle on top and a decorative brass closure at the front. The fitted interior is lined in purple leather. The top has leather loops to hold the steel sewing tools. The tools include a stiletto, scissors, needle case, bodkin and tweezers/earspoon. The front flap drops down and holds a packet of needles. The inside compartment has twists of silks and threads, a little perfume bottle, a folding book of charted embroidery designs and a sterling silver thimble.

The scissors are 3 5/8" long. The blades are tight with intact points and they cut very well to the tips. They are marked "Pearson Bros". The thimble was made before silver hallmarks were required on small items, but it tests solid sterling silver. It has a fleur-de-lis, cable-style scalloped rim and an engraved band. It is in great condition, in round with no holes, dents or other damage.  It is about an American size 9-10 (16.1 mm diameter opening). The steel tools are all in nice condition with no rust or damage. The glass perfume bottle has a screw-on, cork lined top and no chips or cracks. The case is in excellent condition with no loss or even much scuffing. It measures 5 3/8" long x 3 1/4" wide and 2 1/8" high.
