Wonderful Antique Cut Steel Embroidery Scissors

In Original Case * Dated 1833

I'm parting with these gorgeous antique steel scissors from my collection. They have flipped shanks and a beautiful, fluted shape to the bows. The condition is excellent with no rust or damage and they still have most of their original polished surface. The blades are tight with intact points and they cut like new to the tips. The blades have the maker's mark for William Braithwait.

These are entirely hand cut, filed and polished and they were made to order in 1833 for Catharine I Allen. Her name and the date are etched inside on one of the blades and also gold embossed on the top of their fitted red leather case. They are 4 1/8" long. The silk and velvet lined leather presentation case is also in excellent condition and closes securely with a push button clasp. It measures 4 3/4" x 2 1/8". She obviously loved these scissors and took very good care of them.
