Antique Sterling Silver Putti Faces Thimble

Stern Bros. & Co. * Circa 1900s

This solid silver thimble has a double band with little baby faces all around the lower band. They called it "putti" faces but it's also sometimes called angel, cherub or baby faces. It was made by Stern Bros. & Co. of New York and their anchor trademark, "Sterling" and the size (9) are marked on the upper band.

The condition is excellent, crisp and in round with no holes, dents or other damage. It is illustrated on p. 149 (plate 62) of Gay Ann Rogers' book American Silver Thimbles.
