This is an antique primitive hand carved wood perched parrot.
I am uncertain as to exactly how old this is, but it has an incredible sense of age to it. I would be very surprised if it wasn’t at least 100 years old.
The piece measures 10 1/2 inches tall x 2 3/4 inches wide x 3 inches deep (26.7 cm x 7 cm x 7.6 cm).
The carving on this is simple yet very well done. If you look up closely, you see that they even carved in lines for its feathers.
The piece does have some issues. If you don’t like wormholes, this is definitely not for you. It is covered in them. Personally, I love them.
You can see that the piece was repaired at some point with the bird being reattached to its perch. There are remnants of glue going around it and even some other scattered signs of glue on the bottom. It looks like the tail was also reglued at the very bottom.
There are some chipped off pieces to the perch and a few scattered nicks and dings to the parrot.
If you can overlook these issues, I think you will really be impressed with this.
It weighs a little over 7 ounces (208 g).
