This is a pair of vintage Greek mythological needlepoints or petit points with the God Dionysus and the Goddess Artemis.

Based on the frames, I would estimate they date circa 1960s or 1970s.

The piece with Dionysus measures 15 inches tall x 11 1/4 inches wide (38.1 cm x 28.5 cm). The viewable part of the needlework measures 13 inches tall x 9 1/4 inches wide (33 cm x 23.5 cm). The piece with Artemis measures 14 3/4 inches tall x 11 1/8 inches wide (37.4 cm x 28.2 cm). The viewable part of that needle work measures 12 3/4 inches tall x 9 1/8 inches wide (32.4 cm).

Each one of these has a label on the back that reads: Greek Needlepoint From Peloponesia Greece. I don’t know what was crossed out beneath that though.

The needle points are both in very good condition. The only issue I see is that there is a light white film behind the glass, though this really tends to show when the light is hitting it in a certain way. Head on you don’t see it.

The frame with Dionysus has some small chipped off pieces to the decoration going along the right side. Each of them has some very light age related wear, but nothing significant.

Together they weigh 4 lbs. 6 oz. (1.986 kg).
