Antique Silver Thimble w/ Lapis Set Band

Germany * Circa 1920s

This solid silver thimble has an applied, gilded filigree band set with 6 oval lapis lazuli cabochons. The knurling above the band is marked "800" for 800/1000 pure silver.

It's gilded inside and is about an American size 7 (14.4 mm diameter opening). The condition is excellent, crisp and in round with no holes, dents or other damage. According to "A History of Thimbles" by Edwin Holmes, p. 121, thimbles in this style were made in Germany in the 1920s for the Italian market.
