Antique English Sterling Silver Thimble

by Charles Horner * Hallmarked 1892

This lovely sterling silver thimble has the maker's mark for Charles Horner and is a combination of his registered patterns. A smooth lower band is topped by a band of his 'Diamond' pattern. The knurling on the top and sides is in his 'Star' design. The band is stamped with the English silver hallmarks for Chester 1892.

The condition is fabulous, crisp and in round with no holes or dents and very little wear. It's about an American size 9 (15.8 mm diameter opening). A variety of Horner's silver thimbles are shown on pp. 94-97 of Bridget McConnel's book The Story of the Thimble.
