The Mason jar, patented by John Landis Mason in 1858, revolutionized food preservation in American households. Its screw-top design with a rubber seal created an airtight container, significantly reducing spoilage and making home canning accessible to a wider population. These jars, often made of blue or clear glass, became ubiquitous in kitchens across the country.

This particular jar, marked with the "Nov 30th 1858" patent date, is a classic example of early Mason jar production. The accompanying metal funnel, likely designed to fit the jar's mouth for efficient filling during the canning process, is a period accessory that enhances its collectible appeal.

This item is from an Estate of a well respected Local collector who has accumulated many above average pieces in both quality and rarity, however, not all items listed will be of high quality or demand.

Description is as accurate as we can determine so please use the photos to discern for yourself on each item in our collection.  We attempt to point out any flaws or imperfections that we recognize to the best of our ability.  We are doing some light cleaning on these products but not spending an overwhelming amount of time to deep clean every detail so please look at pictures to see condition and decide for yourself if it is of satisfactory cleanliness or quality before bidding.
