THE GAZE OF PASSERSBY

DAIDO MORIYAMA — GETSUYOSHA, 2014 — WITH OBI

This is the first edition of “The Gaze of Passersby” (通過者の視線) by Daido Moriyama (森山大道), published by Getsuyosha (月曜社) in 2014. Part essay collection, part photo book, the volume interweaves Moriyama’s written reflections on photography and seeing with selections of his black-and-white and color work spanning the periods 1965–1970 and 1971–1974.

The book offers a rare window into Moriyama’s thinking as a photographer — his observations on the street, on film, and on the act of passing through the world with a camera. Text is in Japanese. Original obi (belly band) is present. Near-fine condition throughout.
