Antique German advertising trade card group from the “Berühmte Heerführer” (Famous leaders) series, issued for “Aecht  Franck mit der Kaffeemühle,” the well-known German coffee substitute / coffee additive brand. The colourful chromolithographic fronts combine portrait panels of famous military commanders with battle scenes from their careers. The cards include Radetzky with the “Schlacht bei Novara,” Blücher with the “Uebergang über den Rhein bei Kaub,” Friedrich Wilhelm with the “Schlacht bei Wörth,” Osman Pascha “Bei Plewna,” Prinz Eugen with the “Schlacht bei Turin,” and Prinz Friedrich Carl with the “Erstürmung der Düppeler Schanzen.” The scenes show cavalry, infantry, artillery, battlefield smoke, fortifications, river crossings and dramatic military action, with the “Aecht  Franck” coffee-mill trademark printed on the fronts.

The reverses carry German biographical text headed “Berühmte Heerführer,” giving details of the named commanders, their dates, campaigns and military achievements. The advertising panels promote “Aech Franck mit der Kaffeemühle,” warning against inferior imitations and stressing the coffee-mill trademark. Visible wording includes phrases such as “Warnung!”, “Die führende Marke,” “Der Kaffee schmeckt,” “Heimisch,” and references to the brand as a leading coffee additive.
