Vintage German collector / cigarette card from “Sammelwerk Nr. 7: Gestalten der Weltgeschichte” (“Figures of World History”). This attractive card features a coloured printed historical portrait, produced in the style of a miniature, engraving or period portrait. The reverse includes German text with the card’s Bild number, Gruppe number and a short biographical description relating to the person shown.
The card was originally part of an educational collecting series and would have been intended for mounting in a collector’s album. The lower margin includes the printed instruction “Bitte hier abschneiden” (“please cut here”), which is typical of this type of German Sammelbild card. A lovely item for collectors of vintage ephemera, cigarette cards, historical portrait cards, German printed collectibles or educational album cards.
