This 8 x 10 black-and-white archive print captures a highly unusual skeletal, flying-crane experimental helicopter — a cabin pod perched atop exposed tail/truss structure with a twin-engine/rotor arrangement. Visible side markings include the registration N290B, the airframe label "OMEGA BS12D," "Aero Copters"/"Boeing"-style promotional text, and the striking line "A William E. Boeing Jr Enterprise."
The Omega/Sznycer BS-12 family was an obscure American experimental helicopter line built around a flying-crane, open-frame concept. Research indicates the original BS-12 prototype flew in 1956, followed by the revised BS-12B aircraft carrying registration N290B. Honesty note: the airframe marking visible in this photo reads "OMEGA BS12D," while independent research ties N290B specifically to the revised BS-12B — this listing intentionally presents both labels rather than picking one. The visible Boeing/Aerocopters promotional text is a major draw, connecting this rare aircraft directly to experimental aviation investment history before the project ended around 1960.
