This is a first edition first printing copy in good condition overall. The dust jacket is present and intact, retaining strong colour on the distinctive ochre/gold printed boards, though the spine head shows fraying, chipping, and some loss with the top corner lifted. The front and rear panels of the dust jacket display light rubbing and minor creasing at the corners and edges. The rear panel shows some surface wear and light staining. The cloth boards beneath are sound and the spine is firm. Internally, the pages show moderate toning and foxing throughout, consistent with age, and there are scattered brown spots to the prelims and early pages. A folded facsimile telegram is laid in as a plate insert and remains intact. No inscriptions or prior owner markings noted. Maps and photographic plates are all present and clean.
