Heavy steel coin-deposit lockbox with brass plaque reading “THE TRI-STATE – Corner Berry and Court Streets.” This industrial safe dates to the late 19th to early 20th century and was designed for controlled deposits where contents could be inserted but only retrieved with a key. It most likely came from a hotel. -Included is a period-correct 1874 French silver 10 Centimes coin, found with the lockbox, illustrating the type of foreign silver coinage commonly accepted in commercial settings of the era. It is unlocked and can open freely but I can provide a replacement key upon request. An exceptional piece of American commercial and industrial history for collectors!!
