Absolutely stunning original 1960s mid-century floral still life painting featuring a lush arrangement of soft pink and ivory roses set against a dramatic moody green-black background. The composition has a wonderfully romantic Hollywood Regency feel with rich contrast, glowing florals, and beautiful atmospheric depth.
This appears to be an original hand-painted work, likely acrylic on canvas, signed “R. Cox” in the lower right corner. Research suggests possible attribution to listed floral artist Robert Cox (1934–2001), though exact authentication has not been obtained. The brushwork and layered floral detailing are especially beautiful in person, with the darker background allowing the bouquet to almost glow from within.
The visible artwork itself measures approximately 24 inches by 20 inches and is housed in its substantial original vintage gold-toned frame measuring approximately 31 inches by 27 inches overall. The frame features linen-style inner matting/border detail and wonderful vintage carved accents that beautifully complement the romantic floral composition.
An exceptionally display-impressive statement piece ideal for Hollywood Regency, grandmillennial, cottagecore, romantic traditional, coquette, shabby chic, feminine maximalist, or moody vintage interiors.
I am providing light condition reporting while carefully cleaning and preparing the piece for presentation. The linen-style inner matting does show dust/age accumulation, though I am not an expert in cleaning vintage artworks of this nature and have elected to leave that area primarily untouched rather than risk damage. I have lightly wiped down the outer frame only.
The piece shows age-consistent wear from long-term storage including some spots/wear to portions of the frame, crackling/crazing present throughout the painted surface consistent with age, and one missing stretcher/retaining piece on the reverse that will be shown clearly in the photos. Despite this, the painting remains exceptionally display impressive overall with incredible vintage decorator presence.
