The Olympus OM-3 is a 35mm manual-focus SLR camera introduced as the mechanical counterpart to the OM-4, featuring a fully mechanical shutter with electronically powered multi-spot metering. It accepts Olympus OM-mount lenses and utilizes the compact OM System body design.

The camera offers shutter speeds from 1s to 1/2000s, plus Bulb, with flash synchronization at 1/60s. Its TTL Center-Weighted and Multi-Spot metering system allows up to 8 spot meter readings, supporting highlight and shadow control for precise exposure evaluation. The exposure system operates with aperture-priority auto exposure as well as full manual exposure.

The bright interchangeable focusing screen and 100% viewfinder coverage provide accurate framing and focusing. Construction features a durable metal chassis, mechanical film advance lever, depth-of-field preview, exposure compensation, mirror lock-up, and self-timer. Powered by standard button batteries for the metering system, the Olympus OM-3 combines mechanical shutter reliability with one of the most advanced metering systems available in a manual-focus 35mm SLR.
