Bandai's 'One Piece Carddass Hyper Battle' is the first incarnation of One Piece as a TCG, with the first instalment releasing in 1999 and the last in 2002 where it was then succeeded by the second One Piece TCG iteration in 2004. One Piece Hyper Battle was available exclusively in Japan and had remained relatively obscure to international collectors up until 2025, when the success of the modern TCG fueled a surge of interest in it's origin sets. The cards feature unique illustrations of iconic moments tied directly to the anime and serve as an important stepping stone for One Piece's immense global success as both a franchise and modern collectible.
