by Guy Weech

1979 centennial edition, Eastern Arizona Museum and Historical Society Inc. of Graham County (Pima, Arizona), 8 1/2 x 11 1/4 inches tall brown faux leather hardcover, no dust jacket (as issued), gilt lettering to front cover and spine, pictorial endpapers, copiously illustrated with black-and-white photographs, 373 pp. Very slight soiling to covers. Slight soiling to page edges. Abrasion and label residue to top margin of front free-endpaper. Ink prior owner gift inscription to title page. One page of unpaginated photographs appears to have been added after printing, as issued. Otherwise, a very good copy of a scarce local history.

Published to commemorate the centennial of Pima, Arizona, this comprehensive local history offers an invaluable, deeply researched genealogical and historical record of Graham County. The text chronicles the area from pre-historical times and the Apache era up through the arrival of Latter-day Saint (LDS) pioneers in 1879 who came in search of a permanent home.

Richly documented with historical narratives and an abundance of archival photographs, the book includes detailed biographical sketches of many early pioneer families, documenting their struggles with the harsh desert elements to establish a lasting community. It serves as an essential primary reference for descendants, family historians, and researchers of Arizona pioneer heritage, Mormon colonization in the American Southwest, and the foundational history of Graham County.
