Up for sale is a remarkably striking, large-format vintage Soviet plaquette badge dedicated to the legendary Red Cavalry commander and Serbian revolutionary — Oleko Dundich (Aleksa Dundić). Manufactured in the USSR during the 1970s, this piece stands out as a superb example of brutalist Soviet propaganda medal art.
Measuring an impressive 1.57 x 1.14 inches (40 x 29 mm), this badge is on a completely different level compared to standard mass-produced pins. It is made from heavy-gauge premium aluminum with an advanced factory oxidation treatment that gives it the heavy, noble appearance of patinated antique silver.
The artistic execution is phenomenal, featuring a deeply sculpted 3D profile portrait of the commander in his iconic Budenovka hat with a prominent star, alongside the official Order of the Red Banner emblem. It acts as a powerful miniature historical monument, perfect for display on a desk, collectors' tablet, or as a masculine piece of retro Cold War home decor.
