The 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade named after the Black Zaporozhians (72nd Brigade, military unit A2167, unit B0849) is a military formation of the mechanized troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It is located in the city of Bila Tserkva, Kyiv region. The brigade was created in 2002 on the basis of the 72nd Guards Mechanized Division, which in turn traces its history back to the 72nd Guards Motorized Rifle Division.
Since 2014, the brigade has participated in the war in eastern Ukraine as part of the Anti-Terrorist Operation forces. In the summer of 2014, the brigade's units fought heavy battles on the Russian-Ukrainian border, in the Azov Sea region, and in the winter of 2016 - near Avdiivka in the industrial zone.
In August 2017, the brigade was honorably named after the Black Cossacks, a military unit of the Ukrainian People's Republic.
