Background and Problems Solved
In the early stages of the launch of the Milwaukee-8 engine (around 2017-2019), the pump had a high failure rate due to design and material issues. The main problems are:
Leakage of coolant: the most common fault. A small amount of leakage will cause pink (original coolant color) stain on the left side of the engine (water pump position). In serious cases, the coolant will drop to the ground, causing the coolant level to drop and the engine to overheat.
Bearing abnormal noise or wear: pump bearing wear will produce abnormal noise.
Early wear: the original water pump internal seal ring and impeller material are not wear-resistant, easy to cause premature wear due to fine particles or chemical properties in the coolant.
The official Halley Davis noted this issue and launched this AW rubber water pump as a solution and improvement component. Later production models (after approx. 2020) have gradually been directly fitted with this modified pump.
