Ile D’Ormus ou de Jerun - a very rare original hand-coloured map of the fortress of Ormus on Jerum Island, near Kish Island, Iran (Persia), in the Persian Gulf, Middle East. The map is printed on two joined sheets and remains in exceptionally good and clean condition, retaining its original and particularly attractive hand-colouring. It depicts the fortress and the surrounding coastline, with Arabian ships shown to the left and in the foreground, and European ships to the right. The map measures approximately 14 x 10 inches (36 x 26 cm) and will be dispatched rolled in a postal tube. A very rare hand-coloured map of the Strait of Hormuz and Hormuz Island in the Persian Gulf in superb condition, published by the renowned Jacques Nicolas Bellin, for collectors.
