Massilia Marseille - an extremely rare, original antique book plate illustration view map of Marseille, France, engraved by Matthaus Merian and published by Johann Ludwig Gottfrieds in "Newe Archontologia Cosmica", Frankfurt, 1646. The engraving is an illustration plate from a book, in good condition with original folds, some age yellowing mostly along the central fold and the paper edge, clear verso, as shown. The map was kept flat and will be shipped rolled in a postal tube. It measures approximately 14 x 12 inches or 36 x 31 cm. A very rare 1646 view of Marseille, France from the legendary mapmaker for collectors.
