This is a 6 inches tall orange wooden carved horse from the province of Dalarna, Sweden. These horses were typically carved by people as childhood play toys in Sweden. Each province has their differences in the painted design on the horse. The most famous horses came from the Nusnas area of the Dalarna province. Today there exists two major factories producing many variations of the horses. Along with the horses are various other animals native to the farms or surrounding regions, including but not limited to pigs, roosters and moose. The horses have become a highly desired souvenir of Sweden and come in sizes from 1 inch tall to over 20 inches.
Notably, because these are hand produced and painted items, each is uniquely different from another. Over time the colors and patina changes and sometimes there are flaws in the finish of the items. They are not a factory assembly line item.
All horse measurements are from the base to the tops of the ears. This horse measures 6 inches tall, 5 3/4 inches nose to tail and 1 3/4 inches wide. It was manufactured in Sweden.
This horse is in excellent condition and comes from a pet and smoke free home.
