I JUST PURCHASED A SMALL COLLECTION OF EARLY WROUGHT IRON LIGHTING FROM A COLLECTION OUT ON CAPE COD. THESE PIECES WERE DE-ACCESSIONED OUT OF A SMALL MUSEUM OVER 40 YEARS AGO.
MANY OF THESE PIECES HAVE BEEN OFF THE MARKET FOR 40-50 YEARS.
A VERY FINE LATE 18TH OR EARLY 19TH CENTURY TINNED IRON TINDER BOX WITH ITS ORIGINAL ATTACHED TOP CANDLE HOLDER AND ITS ORIGINAL RING HANDLE ALL IN GREAT OLD GRUNGY SURFACE AND PATINA.
NEW ENGLAND, CIRCA 1780-1820.
A nice EARLY EXAMPLE of a very rare form.
It has a wonderful seamed and rolled candle socket on the top for use as a light after you would fire your tinder.
The original ring handle is intact.
Also, it still retains its original inside tin damper which also has a ring handle.

4 1/4" across the base, it stands 1 3/4" tall and 3 1/2" tall with the candle holder.
It is in fine condition with only the usual wear and tear, (see photos) and some typical pin prick holes in the bottom.

Please understand that we are out on the road for most of the week trying to find the items we sell. Because of the nature of our items we cannot determine the shipping until after the sale. Over sized items such as furniture can take a few extra days.
Local pick up on larger items is available. If you win more than one item on the same day we will gladly combine shipping.
