Pot on into large pot of moist compost, if to be planted out: choose planting site with care they will soon take over through underground stems. Dies back in winter returning in spring in greater numbers. Keep plants separate the stronger scented mints can over power and out grow the mild mints. All are drought tolerant once established, although will need watering if container grown, can withstand some neglect, cut back hard (after flowering) to reduce leggy-ness.
Strawberry Mint (Mentha x piperita 'Strawberry') A small leaved fairly low growing mint with a strawberry syrup scent, good for flavouring cool drinks or desserts.
Apple Mint (Mentha suaveolens) A large pale furry leaved mint with a mint sauce scent.
Blackcurrant Mint (Mentha 'Blackcurrant') A medium sized mint with dark green glossy leaves and attractive purple stems and flowers. Makes a delicious drink hot or cold.
Polynesian Mint (Mentha spicata 'Polynesian') is a rare, aromatic herb characterized by its hairy, silvery-green leaves and small pale purple summer flowers. very fast grower once established, best grown in a container, plant out with care - it will take over!
