This is an antique cast iron Kenrick, English Made door knocker.
I believe it dates sometime from the end of the 19th century, circa 1890s or so.
The back plate measures 9 5/8 inches tall x 2 3/4 inches wide (24.4 cm x 7 cm). The knocker protrudes out 2 1/4 inches (5.7 cm). The additional part of the screws measure 2 more inches (5.1 cm).
I’m not quite sure why this is marked BRITISH MADE, as opposed to Kenrick. I did some preliminary research and this looks like one of their door knockers. I’m just not sure what happened here. It’s also marked at the bottom No 68.
I believe this is the original black paint. There are scattered areas where this has worn off and some surface rust is showing through. It looks like it was on a door that was painted white after the knocker was put on, as you can see this going around the outer edges.
When you actually knock with it, a few little pieces of paint fall off sometimes.
The “movable piece” moves to the left and the right a little.
It weighs a little under 1 lb. 13 oz. (814 g).
