An exquisite Alfredo Barbini Murano glass vase in vivid red-orange featuring a gold and brown abstract design.  A beautiful specimen of mid-century Italian art glass, this 9"x8" vase utilizes the prestigious Scavo (Excavation) technique to achieve a breathtaking matte, "fossilized" patina.  The "Scavo" style was created by Venetian glass artists working to replicate the natural effect of antiquated glass exhumed from archaeological digs, and appropriately named "Excavation" glass in Italian.  

The etched signatures: at the upper interior "Barbini Murano" and on the underside "Mayor's".  CIRCA: 20th Century     

This vase was created by Alfredo Barbini for Mayor's Jewelers, a high-end jewelry retailer based in the United States that retailed Italian art glass pieces designed by renowned Master Maestro Alfredo Barbini of Murano, Italy.
