January 2001 Volkswagen Golf MkIV 2.8 VR6 4Motion (4wheel drive)

6-speed manual
116000 miles

Silver and sat upon a set of 18inch alloy wheels finished in red wearing sticky Toyo Proxes R888R 225/40 ZR 18 tyres all round (road legal)

The car was built locally by an engineer to use at Shelseley Walsh Hill Climb and other local Hill Climbs over the past couple of years and is/has remained entirely road legal.

Some proper time and money has been spent building and upgrading the car to what it is.  It features adjustable KW shock absorbers all round, stiffer, lower springs, new, vented, Larkspeed uprated front and rear discs with refurbished callipers painted red with YellowStuff pads, braided hoses, 15 & 20mm wheel spacers, upgraded anti-roll bars, new front subframe, new stiffer engine mounts (Demon Tweeks) poly bushes, Milltek exhaust centre section, competition red hoses under the bonnet, conical air filter, bigger radiator, new fans, Cobra seats with blue harnesses, quick-shift kit, a proper rear roll cage, front and rear tow straps and a host of other things I cant remember.

Suffice to say, the car goes like stink, sounds superb and handles like its on rails  - the suspension is very firm, but not uncomfortable or harsh/crashy etc - its very good indeed.

I bought it on a whim off the last owner who poured time and money into it - he sold it because he loved competing so much he's moved classes and bought an Exige to compete in.

Its not overly stripped out bar the Cobra seats because of the class it competed in - that class required it to have door cards, rear seat intact etc  I have the original front seats and some other parts that were changed but unless you want to put it back to a stock road car they will likely sit in your garage as they have in mine.

The history file includes the V5C, current MOT valid until November 2026, some bills for parts bought, old tax discs, and a few old MOTs.

Stone chips to the bonnet - it will have, its 25 years old but its not rusty or rough - its smart.  You get some tyre noise from these R888R on the road but my god do they grip when its dry!

A really well sorted fast road car, track day weapon or Hill Climb/Sprint machine.

Why am I selling it?  I bought it on a whim thinking I would go hill climbing again and do some trackdays - neither has happened and its only had a few outings, but its not ideal for client meetings and I have too many other cars that dont get used enough so its better enjoyed by someone else who's going to use it for its intended purpose.and compete with it/track it.
