An absolutely fabulous piece from the 19th Century. It depicts daily life in China with people going about all sorts of activities. The hand-work is exquisite and the colors vibrant. The outer border has a variety of animals, and the corners show priests in a pagoda. It is bordered with hand-tied silk macrame which has 14”fringes. It is notable that the heads and faces have been appliqued. Just fantastic!

The condition is excellent. We note that there is fading in the body of the piece and the fringes. Some of the heads are slightly frayed.

54 ½” x 60” (not including the 14” fringes)

I have seen many piano shawls, but this one is truly unique!
