Here is a late 19th century (1870-1900) wood button with cut steel embellishment.  It depicts a bird which is then the top of the pink shank. The button measures 9/16" in diameter: NBS size small. It is in very good condition; the shank needs a little cleaning. A very collectible antique button with charming subject matter!
