Antique leather-bound photo album dating to around 1890–1905 (late Victorian / early Edwardian period). The album has decorative printed pages with gilt and blue detailing, including a portrait frontispiece and an ornate “ALBUM” title page.

This example is unusual as it includes a compartment in the back designed to hold a small music box. Inside is a loose wind-up mechanism marked “Matthey Switzerland”. This is most likely a 20th century addition becuase it is much too small for the cavity. I have not tested it, so it is being sold as untested and may need refitting or repair.

The album itself shows general age-related wear, including marks to the cover and some reinforcement work made to the spine. Pages appear largely intact but there are some points of damage—please see photos for full condition and completeness.

A nice decorative antique, suitable for display, collecting, or restoration.
