A rare 16-pin (32-reeded) Tanzbar is in working order and appears to be in good condition. It is over 100 years old.
The Tanzbar looks like a regular button concertina but the buttons are all fake. It is played by working the bellows in the usual fashion and pressing a small spring-loaded lever that advances a player piano-type paper roll. This opens and closes the reed valves. There is flywheel, which assists the movement of the paper roll.
The outside of the concertina is in good condition (one button missing and the gauze is broken in one place). The internal hand-cranked mechanism is in good working order and the paper rolls runs smoothly and can easily be re-wound, using the handle provided. The bellows appear airtight but a bit stiff and a few reeds may not be sounding properly. The pictures show the condition of the inside and outside of the Tanzbar. Weight ~4.5kg. Size: 35cm x 20cm x 20cm.The Tanzbar comes in a soft case and has three paper rolls (one of which is damaged).
I have owned the Tanzbar for three years but it has been sitting on a shelf untouched - so time to go to a new owner.Open to sensible offers. If you have any questions, please contact me. Thanks for looking.
